Classical Hellas

Book

Delphi, Athens, Peloponnese: the whole Greece in five days.

‘During an exciting journey through the southern regions of Greece, you will dive into the Greek culture, rooted in ancient mythology. You will discover the ancient mysteries of the antiquity monuments and the life of modern polisies’.

Legendary Delphi: the place of power

Located on a hilltop overlooking olive groves, Delphi has been the center of the universe for the Greeks, a cultural and political center from the ancient time. They believed that Apollo lived here and they created the cult of this god. From all over the Mediterranean people gathered in Delphi to learn the prophecies of the Delphic Oracle. And today, the guests of Hellas seek to visit the places where the Pythian Games were held, the predictions that influenced the course of history were made, and the architectural monuments of the open-air museum still rise. Everyone who has been here speaks of the amazing power of Delphi. But it is better to make sure of this personally.

During the excursion to Delphi, an integral part of the program is a visit to The Castalian Spring. Its holy waters cleared the souls of pilgrims who had come to the temple of Apollo. Here ministers and priests were washed, and musicians and poets sought inspiration.

No single serious matter began without a visit to the oracle in Ancient Greece. The council and blessing were asked in the temple of Apollo - its impressive ruins with columns today became the central attraction of Delphi. The Athenian treasury is among other important monuments. It survived so well that the specialists were able to recreate the full look.

The Delphic archaeological complex includes the sanctuary of Athena, the theater of Apollo and the antique stadium where the competitions were held. All monuments are harmoniously combined with magnificent mountain landscapes and recreate the image of far from us archaic Greece. In the remaining time in Delphi you cannot leave without visiting the Archaeological Museum - the treasury of the ancient city.

Athens: the cradle of world culture

Athens is the birthplace of outstanding philosophers, one of the oldest cities in Europe, and today - a busy metropolis, in which modernity is so closely intertwined with antiquity. Common route in Athens is climbing to the top of the Acropolis. Here for centuries the main symbols of Greece are: the majestic Parthenon, the temple of Nicky Ateros, Erechtheion, the theater of Dionysus, the Odeon of Herod Attic.

No tour of Athens is complete without a visit to the Panathinaikos stadium. Here the athletes competed in the first Olympic Games of our time. Guests of Athens get an unforgettable experience of visiting the Syntagma Square, where the ceremony of changing the guard of the ezones takes place.

An integral part of Athens is the historical squares and quarters. Plaka is considered to be the oldest district of the city, filled with labyrinths of historical streets, monuments of history and architecture. The cultural life of the legendary Athens is concentrated in the numerous museums of the city. There are at least 30 of them, but the New Museum of the Acropolis has become a real pearl - perfect both from the point of view of planning and filling.

Blessed Peloponnese: land of legends

Peloponnese is the birthplace of the famous warriors and heroes of Greece, the land on which the most important historical events occurred and the main monuments of the country are concentrated. Much of what can be seen during the tour is included in the UNESCO heritage list. The legendary Olympia is located in Peloponnese. Here, in the temple of Hera, with the ceremony of lighting the fire, the Olympic Games started.

The Peloponnese beckons travelers with monuments, of which we have all heard since childhood, but which are best seen in real life. Epidaurus is a city and a holy hospital for the whole ancient world. From prehistoric times, Asclepius was worshiped here, building monumental buildings in his honor, making offerings and performing theater performances - they were part of the therapy. Today, the Epidaurus Theater with its perfect acoustics is not just a historical monument, but one of the main venues of the Athens Summer Festival.

The pearl of the Peloponnese is Mycenae, once an influential center of the ancient world, associated with mythology. Here, myths intertwine with historical reality, the legacy of which is the Lion Gate, the tombs, the megarons and the palace of Agamemnon. The culmination of excursions to the Peloponnese is visiting Nafplio. This is the first capital of independent Greece, an ancient port city, in which architecture of different epochs was reflected.
