On the way from Fira to the beach resorts of Kamari and Perissa, the curious vacationer cannot resist visiting at least one Santorini winery. They are nestled in the heart of the island. Each of them is a reflection of the high culture of winemaking and an extremely interesting attraction.
One of Santorini's best wineries is SantoWines. It is a cooperative enterprise that unites more than 1.2 thousand winemakers of the island. The main advantage of this winery is the opportunity to taste true Santorini wine, famous for its unique aroma and taste. The winemakers of SantoWines strive to preserve the traditional qualities of wine, including the quality of their products, so they do not aspire to large production volumes, paying attention to the quality of the sunny beverage. The tasting is offered on a special terrace located in a picturesque corner of the caldera. It is often used for celebrations and weddings.

The Artemis Karamolegos winery is 4.5 kilometers from the capital of Santorini. It is the third largest production winery on the island. It offers traditional Santorini wines. The tasting room and restaurant, invite you to taste the island's fine wines and national dishes.
Winemakers present their masterpieces after a visit to the working wine cellar for maturation of wines in the open area - patio. A visit to the retail wine store is offered during the vintage troua.
The winery is open to visitors from April through October from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., daily. It is located just down the main road leading from Fira to the beaches of Kamari.

CANAVA ROUSSOS uses the well-known white grape varieties Asyrtiko, Athiri and Aidani and the red grape varieties Mavrathiro, Mavrotragano and Mandilaria. The winery was founded in 1836 and still maintains the traditional methods of wine production.
An art gallery, museum and winery are all in one building. This unusual art project is located in Exo Gonia. It is housed in the premises of the old winery, founded in 1861.
The cellars of the winery, which has become a showcase for contemporary painting and sculpture, are carved into the volcanic rocks of the caldera. There is also a working winery offering high-quality varieties.
The pumice artificial caves are ideal for maturing wine from local varieties, characterized by low water content and high concentration of beneficial components.

Tastings at the wineries are offered for a modest fee, which does not exceed 5-7 euros. They also offer hors d'oeuvres, which enhance the taste of the wine. Most of the wines are made from the local grape variety that grows on Santorini's volcanic soil - assyrtiko. The variety of wine produced in Santorini is usually called Vinsanto. It is a dessert white wine with a memorable taste.
A trip by car from Fira to Kamari can be with a stop in one or more wineries. Usually a transfer is recommended for such a trip.
